On the Road Again

Yesterday I woke up and, boy, was I tired. I went down and had their free continental breakfast at 8am which was nothing special, I avoided the B&Gs and went straight for their version of Froot Lupes.
Checked out of the hotel at 9

Haha! I was right. Traffic was pretty crazy yesterday morning, but not on my end : ) I decided to stay in Arnold, MO instead of St. Louis so I would be able to get out and movin' in the morning.

I have had a lot of Pre-Institute work to do-- an estimated 35 hours-- and I've been trying to be as efficient as possible. I began the training several weeks ago, but, knowing that I had a 20-hour drive, I saved some of the initial reading to do the audio version.

Ms. Lora's story...
A fictionalized story about a TFAers four years in Houston that was quite amazing.
And quite long-- 7 hours
but I loved it

(It could be the fact that I didn't read it was fictionalized [to show the different values and techniques that makes a good teacher] before I listened to all of it, but I did have a hunch. I just wanted to believe that every detail was true)

I stuck to a schedule that I would listen to the entire story while driving on the highway. Between chapters, which could be over an hour each, I allowed myself to listen to a song or two of house music to get 're-jacked up'.

The day consisted of driving towards Memphis and mostly being stuck between rain and semi-trucks.

At around 4pm, I found myself becoming more and more tired, so I decided to drink one of the 5-hour ENERGY shots.

Within minutes I found myself jamming to this great song way harder than I originally anticipated.
My energy was back

I past another milestone yesterday...

my 2001 Hyundai Elantra has started becoming an old-timer.

...

Ms. Lora's story kept me interested and the drive went relatively fast. I went beyond my initial goals of Texarkana and after 700+ miles in one day, I arrived in Nacogdoches.
Yes, I was drawn in by the interesting name, too.

Knowing that I need to brush up on my Spanish, I checked into La Quinta hotel, and went to a Taqueria pequeno for din-din.

Wow, the food was great. Quesadilla grande con pollo y CHIPS AND SALSA NOMZ.
That entire meal was around 9 dollars, although it was worth much more.

I was really tired last night, got back to the hotel at around 9pm, and had a great skype sesh with Jessica.
I did some more reading to stay efficient and went to bed at around 11pm.

I told myself I would sleep way in because I'm only about 2.5 hours from Houston, but I got up at 9:30am.
The sad thing is that 9:30am is probably 'sleeping way in' considering I'll be getting up at 6-7 or so for the rest of my life ahghahsgdhagasdf.

OK ok, I've done it before, I'll do it again.

It's 10:27am right now and I should get moving. I'm going to see if I can find a spot to do some more studying, I have to get into Houston and find a Walgreens Care Clinic to have my TB test results "read" to me, and then check into the hotel by 4pm when I told them to expect me. I have to talk to some HISD people once I arrive so I have to look semi-decent.

p.s. Late last night, I got a text from Elin Amundson saying "I LIKE UR BLOG", those words of encouragement go a long way.
