So here are some oldies...
(Click on the photos to enlarge them)
First day teaching, ridin' the bus
We came back to find celebratory frozen lemonades.
They were delicious, despite our looks of angst
This is Lauren, my CMA for the summer. H.S.O. to her.
She graded my lesson plans, sat in on my lessons and was up just as late as us to help.
Then up late the next night to evaluate the submissions.
What a baller.
Jordan (camera owner) and Emily (fellow UW grad)
my already well-established besties
This is the day (that the lord has made) that we had to impromptu create a cheer for the school.
...we were not worthy.
Jordan was a photojournalism major at University of Texas (Austin) after being in the Navy for 6 years.
He brought his Canon 5D Mark II to the last day of class and shot part of my lesson.
I'm "narrating behavior" in the beginning of the clip, which is a strategy to call out and notice positive behavior and influencing the people who aren't doing what they are supposed to be.
(Name) is doing _____
I only tell you this because a friend watched the clip and said they were confused.
The "Bulldog" position is the name of the position that students walk in while going through the halls.
At Hadfield, it was the "Quiet Walk Attitude" with Mrs. Louis (the art teacher) shoving a peace sign in your face.
<3 no hate no hate
I've got SO MUCH to work on, but here's a little clip of myself lining up the students to go to the bathroom and then returning to intro the math class.

This whole week has been devoted to planning for the upcoming school-year.
Every morning we would have registration and breakfast from 8-9am
and I would get there around 7:40am to utilize the whole time for planning.
We're being emphasizing setting our "Big Goal" and also our "Management Plan"
I did the finishing touches to my first rough draft today-- I won't bore you with details-- but if you'd like to hear about them, let me know, I'd be very happy to share!
The entire week was planning and learning how to plan... but I did have some time for fun too!
Taking the packed Metro Rail...
.. we went to the Man U vs. MLS All-Stars soccer game!
And yesterday, we went to a BREWERS v. Astros game.
The Brewers got crushed 6-0 but hey who cares
August got us amaaazing seats from a friend.
Right behind home plate, easily the best location I've ever sat at a game
We stopped and grabbed some Mexican food before going it. It was great
So we got to the game around the 3rd inning-- reminiscent of the last Brewers game I went to.
(Shout out to all the friends that went to that game)
I actually sat next to another person from Milwaukee!
We were both disappointed that the "Sausage Race" of WI was cheaply substitute for a
Taco Bell hot-sauce race. Absurd.
This must have been before the Taco Bell hot-sauce race
Roll out the Barrel? from Lee Dix on Vimeo.
Don't worry, the proud Wisconsinite in me will always be there.
Today we played racquetball
This is my opponent.
Fierce, but I can take him.
I'm still able to enjoy a good tune or two.
Also... shout-out to Katie Greenway and Elin Amundson, they both sent me spontaneous texts this week.
Little things like that are still greatly appreciated!
and shout-out to everyone else who I haven't talked to yet.
Despite how hard I'm working, and how busy I am, I really do think about you guys a lot.
I won't be coming home super soon, but I know when I do, I will be welcomed back : )
Lately I've been thinking about the last two months I had in Madison, and it was a blast!
Everyone gave me a lovely goodbye.
So Mom and Dad, I know I don't call you a lot but just know that I'm working hard!
If you want to check out another blog (other than my dad's)
check out katie greenways blog about making a movie.
Also, safe travels to Pedro as he travels through north Texas, shout out to B Mol, Molly, and congrats to Jenna Hindi finishing up her first week of Round Zero, and 'grats to Amber Fleury for turning 21.
That's all for now.
Love
